This call closed on 15 March 2024. Three workshops were selected and held at SNAI 2024. See the SNAI 2026 call for workshops for the current edition.

SNAI 2024 invited proposals for half-day and full-day co-located workshops on emerging topics at the intersection of networking and artificial intelligence. Three workshops were selected and held on 20 October 2024, the final day of the symposium.

Workshops held at SNAI 2024

W1 — EdgeAI: Edge and In-Network Intelligence

Organisers: Liang Zhao (Zhejiang University), Priya Subramanian (IIT Madras), Ana Petrova (ETH Zürich).

This full-day workshop brought together researchers working on model placement across the edge and the data plane. Sessions covered in-switch inference on commodity programmable ASICs, latency-aware model serving, and hardware-software co-design for line-rate feature extraction. The workshop featured a keynote by Hiroshi Tanaka (Kyoto University) and an open-problems panel.

W2 — FedLearn: Federated and Split Learning over Real Networks

Organisers: Marta Ribó (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), Chen Liu (Peking University), Aditi Banerjee (Indian Institute of Science).

A half-day workshop focused on the systems challenges of running federated and split learning over realistic, bandwidth-constrained, and heterogeneous networks. The programme included paper presentations, a discussion of open benchmarks, and a hands-on session using the FedLearn reference testbed.

W3 — SecML: Machine Learning for Network Security

Organisers: Daniel Okafor (ETH Zürich), James O'Connor (Trinity College Dublin), Carlos Mendes (Universidade de São Paulo).

A half-day workshop on the operational deployment of machine learning for intrusion detection, encrypted-traffic classification, and adversarial robustness in production networks. The workshop emphasised reproducibility: every accepted paper was required to release either code or measurement traces.

Proposal requirements (historical)

Workshop proposals were required to include a one-page description of the workshop's scope and motivation, a tentative programme committee of at least six members spanning at least three institutions, an indicative call for papers, and a plan for the half-day or full-day schedule. Multi-edition workshop series were welcome.

Workshop proceedings

Each workshop published its own short proceedings in the LiteConf repository under the SNAI 2024 workshop track. Workshop papers were not part of the main SNAI 2024 proceedings and did not compete for the Best Paper or Best Student Paper awards.
